Maintain Your Curb Appeal With Soft Washing

Soft Washing Near Me | House Soft Washing

So you decide that the time has come to spruce up your home and make it look beautiful and give it some great curb appeal. It’s important to remember that to keep it looking as good as new, you have to continually maintain it.

Soft washing is the perfect way to do just that. By soft washing annually, you could clean the exterior of your home with the mildest of cleaning solutions which will typically include bleach! When we soft wash a home that is in great shape, the cleaning is performed with such a mild solution that it almost consists of only water.

With the cost of painting a house being $10,000 and up, why wouldn’t you soft wash annually? Normally, a soft wash will only run $500 – $1000. Done regularly, you could theoretically get an average of 12-15 years of paint durability from a good house paint job.

It only makes sense. You maintain your home’s curb appeal, extend the life of the new paint job, and when it comes time to repaint: minimal surface prep will be required. It will actually save you money in the long run.

Allowing mildew to accumulate and grow will allow discoloration of your paint film, staining on the paint film, degradation of the paint film, and ultimately paint failure resulting in expensive repairs and repainting.

Combating Mildew With Pressure Washing

Combating Mildew With Pressure Washing

Mildew can be a constant struggle to control. As a professional paint advisor and pressure washing pro, I’m often asked “Is there something I can put on my bricks, pavers, siding, or driveway that will prevent this unsightly mildew from returning?

In paint, maybe. But for all of the rest of those surfaces, no. However, on pavers, bricks, and concrete – there are sealers that can be applied that will make it easier to clean these surfaces when mildew does return.

Periodic maintenance cleanings will make it less noticeable and make it easier to clean. Allowing mildew to continue to grow will make it more difficult to clean.

Mildew manifests itself in many ways. It looks like black dirt on concrete surfaces. It’s green or black on painted surfaces. It’s shades of green when it appears on windows.

Don’t forget the Jomax. This is our favorite product to use. We also use 30 second outdoor cleaner. The common ingredient used to kill the mildew is bleach. With Jomax, you add bleach. 30 Second outdoor cleaner already contains bleach.

When pressure washing to combat mildew, always remember that these products will be a big help and actually do a lot of the hard work for you when you use them prior to pressure washing mildew off of surfaces.

It’s always important to be mindful of the amount of pressure being used. Concrete and brick surfaces can take harder pressures. Building materials for siding, such as Hardie board, vinyl siding, stucco, wood, and other surfaces should only be pressure washed with lower pressures or soft washing.

Frequently Asked Questions

A: Yes, if left untreated, mildew can cause wear and staining, especially on porous surfaces like concrete and brick.

Q: Is it safe to use bleach-based products on all outdoor surfaces?

A: Bleach based products are effective and can be safe when used properly. However, care should be taken with certain materials such as vinyl siding, painted surfaces, and glass. Additionally, always be mindful of nearby vegetation, keep it well watered! Remember to use good personal protection equipment such as goggles too.

Soft Wash vs Pressure Wash: What’s Right for Your Home?

House Soft Wash

Maintaining a sparkling clean exterior is something we all want, especially here in the picturesque place of Baton Rouge. But the battle against grime and mildew often leaves us pondering: soft wash or pressure wash – which one is the right choice for our homes? Both are incredibly effective in banishing the unwelcome grime, but each has their own areas of expertise. At Mr. Curb Appeal 360, we offer both soft washing and pressure washing services to keep your home sparkling clean. In this latest blog update from the team at Mr. Curb Appeal 360, we’ll dissect the ins and outs of soft wash and pressure wash, guiding you to what suits your home the best.

What is Pressure Washing and Soft Washing?

Pressure washing is the robust tool of cleanliness. It charges at the grime with high-pressure water jets, sweeping away the dirt and revealing the original charisma of hard surfaces like concrete, brick, and stone. It’s your go-to pal when stubborn grime decides to overstay its welcome on your driveway or patio.

On the flip side, soft washing is the gentle giant. It caresses the surface with a low-pressure nozzle, while using the biodegradable cleaning solution to wipe out algae, mold, mildew, and more. As you can tell from the name, this is the softer cleaning option for your delicate surfaces like wood and vinyl siding.

Where They Shine

Pressure washing is a highly efficient method for cleaning various outdoor areas around a home. It’s particularly effective on driveways, sidewalks, and patios where dirt, grime, and stains tend to accumulate over time. The high-pressure water stream effortlessly dislodges and sweeps away stubborn grime, revealing the original charm of these areas. Beyond hard surfaces, pressure washing is also great at cleaning exterior walls, fences, and decks, ridding them of mildew, algae, and weather stains. Additionally, it’s a great tool for prepping surfaces for painting or staining, ensuring better adhesion and a cleaner finish.

Soft washing is a gentle yet effective cleaning method ideal for delicate surfaces around a home where high pressure could cause damage. Utilizing low-pressure pumps, soft washing meticulously cleans and treats surfaces, eradicating organic growth and stains without the harsh impact of high pressure. It’s perfect for surfaces like vinyl siding, stucco, cedar shakes, and other soft or painted surfaces which demand a tender approach. Through soft washing, homeowners can maintain a pristine and appealing aesthetic.
